Elaine Marie Van Dee, was born April 20, 1918, near Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of William C and Elsie M. (Seaton) Dillin. She attended school at Hawkeye Dayton Country School in Dayton Township. On December 28, 1937, she was united in marriage to Alfred F. Van Dee, in North English. They lived in the North English area throughout her life time. She became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in North English in January of 2006. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed flowers, gardening, baking, and most of all, she loved her family. Elaine died on Friday, March 28, 2008, at the English Valley Care Center after an extended illness at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 8 days. She is survived by her husband Alfred of North English; 9 children: Audrey ( Donovan) Musgrove of Sully, IA; Linda (Robert) Neff of Milan, Il; Larry (Kathy) Van Dee of Kansas City, MO; Keith (Gaila) Van Dee of Cape Coral, FL; Carol Greene of Black Hawk, SD; Daryl (Melody) Van Dee of North English, IA; Duane (Peggy) Van Dee both of North English, IA; Jill (David) Bos of Thornburg, IA; and Kevin Van Dee of Iowa City, IA; 20 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters: Florence Meyer and Esther Van Dee; and 3 brothers: Robert Dillin, Lloyd Dillin and Leonard Dillin. A Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Rev. Pat Lumsden will officiate. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7 PM, with a Wake Service at 7 PM, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
