Edwin "Ed" Wibben, 75, of Mt. Pleasant, IA died Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at his home. A visitation will be held from 12-6 p.m. on, Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. that afternoon. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, January 19th, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 910 Maple Leaf Drive, with Reverend Mike Scudder officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Faith Lutheran Church and the American Heart Association. Born January 17, 1939, in Kossouth County, IA, Edwin John was the son of John and Irene Schwarz Wibben. He attended Ramsey Reform Country School near Lakota, IA, and graduated from Lakota High School. On June 24, 1961 he married Beverly Sunde at Buffalo Center, IA. Ed served his country in the United States Army. He was primarily stationed overseas in Turkey. During his three years of service, he was also stationed in North Carolina and California. The family lived in Elmore, MN where Ed managed a lumberyard and a Standard Oil fertilizer plant. In 1972 the family moved to Mediapolis, and he was a territory manager for Standard Oil. Moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1975, he managed, and later owned, a fertilizer plant. He sold the plant in 1990, and then worked for Co-Op and Liqui-Grow from which he retired. He continued working part-time for Liqui-Grow during busy their busy season. A member of the Faith Lutheran Church, he also served as a trustee and usher. Favorite hobbies included fishing, coffee clubs, working on cars, tractors, and mowers, and cutting wood for the woodstove in his workshop. Survivors include his wife, Beverly; a son, Todd (Cherity) Wibben; three daughters, Chari (Joe) Ruby, Lori (Lynn) Whaley, and Lisa (Dana) Kuster, all of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers, Marvin (Kathy) Wibben of Lakota, IA, Loren (Phyllis) Wibben of Gold Canyon, AZ, and Russell (Linda) Wibben of Victoria, MN; fourteen grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Preceding Ed in death were his parents.
