Edwin E. Frederick, age 86, died on Friday, April 29, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. Edwin Earl Frederick was born on September 15, 1924, the son of Clarence L. And Lillian Miller Frederick. He grew up in the Tipton community, graduating from Tipton High School and Tipton Junior College. Edwin served in the US Navy during World war II. He was united in marriage to Betty Louise Hearn on January 8, 1950, in Tipton, Iowa. They lived in Mechanicsville, Kinross and North English before moving to the farm near South English, where he has resided for the past 51 years. Edwin worked a few years at Amana Refrigeration and at Smitty's Feeds in Kinross. He farmed most of his life. He liked reading and keeping up with current events, watching wildlife, taking the bank trips (once Betty convinced him to go), and he loved being around his grandchildren. Betty passed away on May 12, 2008. Edwin is survived by a daughter Brenda (Johnny) Peppers of Blue Springs, MO; 6 sons: Fritz (Del) Frederick of North English, Steve Frederick of South English, Craig (Becky) Frederick of Keota, Marlin (Jan) Frederick of Webster, Raymond Frederick of South English, and Brent Frederick (LeAnn) of Williamsburg; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters Odette Williams of Cedar Rapids and Norma Livezy of Petersburg, IL; and brothers Ellis "Tiny" Frederick of North English and James Frederick of Springville. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, a daughter-in-law Amy Frederick, brothers Arnold, Gale, Donald & Clarence Frederick Jr. and a sister Darlene Zenisek.
