Keswick- Edward William Striegel was born June 23, 1948, in Harper, Iowa, the son of Delbert W. and Alma Bombei Striegel. He graduated from Keota High School and attended Indian Hills Community College. He served as a Staff Sgt in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He was a life-long resident and farmer in the Harper and Keswick communities. On December 19, 1970, Ed married Barbara A. Moore at St Mary's Catholic Church in Sigourney. Ed was a member of Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church, Keswick, the Keswick American Legion Post #319 and the Keswick Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed rebuilding Oliver tractors, farming, watching his sons hunt and fish and being "Chairman" of the Keswick Lumber Yard Coffee Club. Ed died on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa, at the age of 64 years. He is survived by his wife Barb of Keswick; 4 sons: Jason of Keswick; Nicolas (Dana) of Kalona, Patrick (Mary Catherine) of Monroe; and Ryan (Kylee) of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren: Neesa, Halle, Delaney, Macey, Cody, Tayley, William & Timothy; brothers and sisters: Kenneth (Deb) Striegel of Ollie; Larry (Sandy) Striegel of Harper; Joyce Webster of Rhome, TX; Francene (Lou) Lorenzo of New Jersey; Jeanette (Richard) Peirce of Williamsburg; Leo (Jacque) Striegel of Harper; Dennis (Jeannie) Striegel of Harper; Leroy (Deb) Striegel of Carlisle; Sharon (Ed) Banks of Letts; Raymond (Virginia) Striegel of Indianola; and Jane (Sam) Mendenhall of Garden Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Danny, and mother and father-in-law Bill & Letha Moore. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, January 7, 2013, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial with military rites will be in the Bailey Cemetery, rural Keswick.
