KEOTA-Edward W. Greiner, age 82, of Keota, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the McCreedy Home in Washington. Ed was born April 9, 1928, in Keota, to Robert and Rosa (Adam) Greiner and graduated from West Chester High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On December 28, 1968 Ed married Kathryn Millane in Fairfield. A lifelong resident of the Keota community, Ed farmed for 57 years. He was a member of the Keota V.F.W. Post # 4716, Knights of Columbus and St. James Catholic Church in Washington. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, sightseeing and having his family and friends visit. Survivors include his wife: Kathryn of Keota; six children: Carol (Mike) Biesanz of McKinney, Texas, Sara (Liam) Carolan of Park Ridge, Illinois, Joan (Gary) Edwards of Richmond, Virginia, Ed J. (Tandy) Greiner of Keota, Karen (Troy) Christensen of Cedar Rapids and Kathy Greiner and fiancee Mike Naslund of Oswego, Illinois; 11 grandchildren: Matthew and Eric Biesanz, Evan Carolan, Nathan, Adam and Stephen Edwards, Michael O'Connor, Andrew and Kassidi Greiner, Ava and Caden Christensen; three sisters: Marie Hammes of Fairfield, Sister Madeline Mary Greiner of Omaha, Nebraska and Dorothy Weber of Washington and one brother: Bob Greiner of Keota. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Marge McMains. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Rev. Paul Appel officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a KC Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Ed and his family.
