Edward Franklin Miller was born April 21, 1927 near Kalona, Iowa the son of Daniel B. And Katie (Gingerich) Miller. On October 7, 1947 he was united in marriage to Sarah Mast in Kalona. Edward has lived and farmed in the Kalona community all of his life. He accepted Christ in his youth and was baptized and was a faithful member of the Sharon Bethel Church. He worked with Mennonite Disaster Services for many years. Edward died on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at his home in rural kalona following an extended illness at the age of 79 years. Edward is survived by his wife Sarah; two sons - Arden Miller; David L. Miller and wife Martha all of Kalona; five daughters - Lucy Stoltzfoos and husband Roman of Lancaster, PA.; Elaine Miller of Swisher; Evelyn Miller and husband Steven of Hutchinson, KS.; Nancy Miller and Louise Miller of Kalona; 26 grandchildren; 3 great grandsons; a brother Calvin Miller of Lott, TX.; and a sister - Elva Mast of Wellman. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons - Raymond J. Miller and Howard Miller; a daughter Mary Catherine Miller; a brother Clarence Miller; and a sister Mary Elizabeth Yoder. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Sharon Bethel Church near Kalona. Ministers in charge are Delmar Bontrager and Jacob Yoder. Burial will be in the Sharon Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Sharon Bethel Church. A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home of Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
