Edna Miller was born August 30, 1919, in Sumner County, Kansas. The daughter of Harvey C. and Mary (Fry) Miller. She grew up in Kansas and moved to Kalona with her family at age 11, and has lived in the Kalona area ever since. On November 27, 1941 Edna was united in marriage to Mahlon E. Miller in Kalona. Edna was a homemaker and worked at Pleasantview Home as a Dietary aide for 4 years. Edna was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church, where she served on the service, sewing, remodeling and we care committees. She enjoyed puzzles, making quilts for the children and grandchildren and volunteering at Pleasantview Home. Edna passed away on her birthday, Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Pleasantview Home at the age of 101.
Edna is survived by 9 children: Mary ( Charles) Radtke of Rogers, Arkansas, Benjamin (Wilma) of Cedar Rapids, Barbara (Virgil) Slabaugh of Kalona, Ezra (Ruby) Miller of Hutchinson, Kansas, Paul (Bertha) Miller of Hutchinson, Kansas, Mark (Irma) Miller of Kalona, Elmer (Ileen) Miller of Kalona, Verton (Cheryl) Miller of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Nora (Kevin) Kemp of Kalona, Iowa, 30 grandchildren; 70 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; 3 daughters-in-law, Daniel's first wife Dorothy Miller, second wife Vickie Miller and Joseph's wife Mary Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1990, 4 sons, Daniel, Joseph, Lowell Miller and an infant son; 2 grandsons, Micah Miller and Kermit (Kimberly Slabaugh) Gingerich; 5 sisters, Barbara Bender, Lydian Miller, Susan Yoder, Mattie Bender, Mary Helmuth and 9 brothers, Clemens Miller, Amos Miller, Clarence Miller, Samuel Miller, Ezra Miller, Enos Miller, Harvey Miller, Henry Miller and one infant brother.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the Fairview Mennonite Church near Kalona. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 at the church. Burial will be at South Gingerich Cemetery.
