Edna Mae Litwiller

Edna Mae Litwiller 1936 – 2023

Edna (Eddie) Mae Litwiller of Williamsburg was born March 19, 1936, in Mechanicsburg, PA, the daughter of James and Mary Ella (Kauffman) Hertzler. She received her BSN at Goshen College and later her MED at Penn State University. Eddie worked as a registered nurse in various communities and concluded her career as Director of Nursing for a Tech School, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church. Eddie died Friday, March 31, 2023, at The Bird House Hospice Home in Iowa City, Iowa following an extended illness, at the age of 87 years.

She is survived by her four children, Steve (Brenda) Litwiller of Iowa, Cindy (Merrill) Miller of Virginia, Lori (Bill) Wiedemann of California, Jeff (Marilyn) Litwiller of Pennsylvania, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, a sister Jane Thornton and two brothers, Jim Hertzler and Don Hertzler. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Eddie loved cats, reading, doing puzzles of various kinds, and knitting. In addition to knitting baby blankets for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she knit and donated many preemie hats and blankets to the Iowa City hospitals.

A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Wellman Mennonite Church.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time at the church.
