Edith C. Ropp

Edith Cleola Gnagey Ropp, 89, of Kalona, Iowa died on Friday, November 27, 2015 at
Bickford Assisted Living in Iowa City.

Edith Gnagey was born in rural Johnson County near Wellman, Iowa on December 11, 1925, the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Kinsinger) Gnagey. She grew up in the rural Wellman area. On June 3, 1947, she married Leroy Vernon Ropp and they farmed the homestead where Edith grew up, living in rural Johnson County until 1996 when they moved to Kalona. Edith was a member of West Union Mennonite Church, and was active in the women's sewing group at West Union and the Farm Bureau ladies. She enjoyed collecting and making dolls, traveling with Leroy, including many winters spent in Pharr, Texas during their retirement years.

Edith is survived by her husband, Leroy, two daughters, Ardith Hartzler of Wellman, Diana (Morris) Miller, of Riverside, and a son, Lamont (Luetta) Ropp, of Wellman; 3 grandchildren, Shawna (Tim) Crile, Christian Miller, and Elizabeth Miller, 2 step grandchildren, Mason Brown & Dylan Brown; 2 great-grandsons, Tyler and Reece Crile: close family friends Les, Marina, Isabelle & Vanessa Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents and two of her children, son Glenn Merlin Ropp and daughter Shirleen Ropp and Son In Law Turner Brown.

A Celebration Of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at West Union Mennonite Church in rural Parnell. Pastor Corey Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the West Union Cemetery rural Parnell. Visitation will be to from 2-8 PM Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
