Eda Stutzman was born Friday, September 22, 1916 in Wood River, Nebraska the daughter of William and Barbara (Gascho) Stutzman. In her youth she was baptized and became a member of the Wood River Mennonite Church. Eda moved to Wellman, Iowa in 1944. She was a homemaker and cared for her father until he passed away in 1956. In 1958 she moved to Iowa City where she worked at the University of Iowa Hospital in housekeeping for 22 years before retiring in 1981. Eda returned to Wellman in 1982. She has been a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church since 1944 and was active in WMSC. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, flowers and working with her hands by cooking, knitting and other handwork. Eda died on Monday, December 19, 2005 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a long illness at the age of 89 years. Eda is survived by a sister Wilma Stutzman of Wellman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters - Rosa Roth and Malinda Schweitzer Kinsinger; and a brother - Arthur Stutzman who died in November 2005.
