Dwight E. Felling

Dwight E. Felling, age 87, of Marengo, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care. A memorial service with military honors, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo, with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be contributed to the family. Kloster Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dwight is survived by his four children, Denise (Scott) Fowler, of Marengo, Ruth (Jim) Taylor, of Boise, ID, Esther (Martin) Jenke, of Hamburg, Germany, and Roger Felling (Tricia), of Marengo; seven grandchildren, Brian, Kassandra, Alexander, Elizabeth, Tasha, Sierra and Ariel; nine great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anita, two grandchildren Christina and Colby, and a brother Nyle.

Dwight Erdis Felling was born April 22, 1934, in Marengo, the son of Lewis and Veda (Jones) Felling. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1954. Dwight was united in marriage to Anita Keener on August 21, 1960. They made their home in Marengo. Dwight and Anita farmed together, raising livestock and crops, until retiring in 1994. Dwight continued to hobby farm on 26 acres. In his earlier years, Dwight loved racing cars and attending NASCAR races in Newton. He will be remembered as a “hot rodder”. Dwight enjoyed collecting coins, coffee time and mowing time.
