Dustin Knifong

Dustin Knifong, 31, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospital from injuries sustained in an ATV accident. The son of David LeRoy Knifong and Rhonda Sue Vaughn Tolbert, Dustin James was born on May 11, 1980, in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He attended Mt. Pleasant Community Schools prior to moving to Illinois in 1990. He returned to Mt. Pleasant in 1998. Dustin enjoyed working with his hands. He set homes for his uncle's company, Easy Set Construction, striped pavement for V A Road Striping of Hillsboro, and most recently worked at West Liberty Foods. He was fond of working on and riding cars, motorcycles, and ATVs. Dustin loved his family and cherished the time they spent together. He liked participating in paintball wars with his family and friends. Along with his mother, of Fairfield, IA, and his father, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Dustin is survived by his fiance', Michelle Follas of Mt. Pleasant, IA; four daughters, Desiree Knifong of Ottumwa, IA, Jayden Knifong, Kiersten Smyth, and Mikayla Rodgers, all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three brothers, Rick Vaughn of Stockport, IA, Casey Knifong of Clarinda, IA, and Steven Stott of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and two sisters, Erica Hendrickson of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Shelly Detrick of Cedar Rapids, IA. Dustin is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dustin was preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother, Davy Knifong.
