Dustan Anthony Andrew, age 49, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Blairstown, passed away unexpectedly in his home. Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Blairstown with Father Craig Steimel officiating. Inurnment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Blairstown, with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dusty was born August 30, 1973. He is the son of Duane and Cindi (Schmuecker) Andrew. He is survived by his son Aaron Calvin of Texas, his parents; a sister Danielle Frese; a brother Damian Andrew; his nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Connor, Skylar, Easton and Libi Frese, and Maci, Henry, and Luci Andrew; and his grandma Adeline Schmuecker. Also surviving him are many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Arley and Mildred Schulte, and his grandparents Dwayne Schmuecker, Virgil, and Arlene Andrew.
In his youth, Dustan loved the outdoors, camping and fishing with his family. He enjoyed taking karate lessons, baseball, football, and was an exceptional wrestler. He graduated from Benton Community high school in 1992 where he wrestled and played football. He joined the Navy Reserves and studied construction mechanics. He worked as a carpenter most of his life where he could enjoy his love for the outdoors. Dusty loved his son, nieces and nephews, the time he spent with them was never enough. He loved and studied his Catholic faith and had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother.
