Duane Ray Von Ahsen

Williamsburg- Duane Ray Von Ahsen was born April 29, 1948, in Oxford, Iowa the son of Wilferd Henry & Doris Evetta (Collingwood) Von Ahsen. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1966 and he attended Muscatine Community College and Area 10 Community College in Cedar Rapids. Duane served in the United States Air Force and the Army Reserves. On June 8, 1968, Duane was united in marriage to Donna Schwarting, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were married over 20 years and later divorced. He worked for Moore Business Operations in Iowa City until his retirement. Duane was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood carving and tinkering. Duane died on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 76 years.

He is survived by his children, Tammy (Roger) Swartzendruber of Columbus, OH and Jason (Heather) Von Ahsen of Milan, IL; three grandchildren, Sam, Corwin and Colton; two sisters, Barbara Gahring of League City, TX and Bonnie (Russell) Furler of Conroy. He was preceded by his parents, a brother David and a brother-in-law Donald.

Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:30 am on Monday, November 4, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be in th St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2-4 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A general memorial fund has been established.
