Duane Beckler, 53, of rural Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Duane Beckler, 53, of rural Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A visitation with family receiving friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Wayland, IA. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on March 29th at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Pastors Curt Kuhns and Ken Steckly officiating. Interment will be Bethel Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Beckler Family to be determined at a later date. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com Born December 26, 1962 in Lebanon, OR, Duane Merrell was the son of Delmar Floyd and Mildred (Unternahrer) Beckler. He graduated from Hope Haven School in Burlington, IA. He worked as a "supervisor" at the Washington County Developmental Center. Duane loved to bowl and play golf. He listened to country western music, enjoyed horses, and loved to go to Midwest Old Threshers each year. An avid NASCAR fan, his favorite driver was Jeff Gordo n. A special uncle to his many nieces and nephews, Duane enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his parents, Delmar and Mildred Beckler of Mt. Pleasant, IA; four siblings, Ardith (Tom) Frees of Riverside, IA, Dean (Crystal) Beckler of Crawfordsville, IA, Sharon (Steve) Blakley of Wayland, IA and Beverly Elmore of Albia, IA; and 20 special nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Ira and Mariam Beckler, and Jake and Mayme Unternahrer; a brother-in-law, Daniel Elmore; and several aunts and uncles.
