KEOTA-Douglas W. Davis, age 57, of Keota, formerly of Aurora, Missouri, died Thursday, September 16, 2010, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. Doug was born May 21, 1953, in Hooker, Missouri, to Harold and Juanita (Smith) Davis and attended school in Newburg, Missouri. He was a logger for Smith Sawmill 25 years and also worked as a mechanic. On March 20, 1997, he married Lucille Smith in Monett, Missouri. The couple lived in Florida for five years before returning to Missouri. Doug moved to Keota in 2010. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and gambling. Doug was a family man whose world revolved around his family. He thoroughly enjoyed having fun with his girls and became "dad" and "grandpa" to many people. Survivors include four children: Danielle (Jason) Moody of Keota, Cassidy Davis of Keota, Doug Davis II of Crane, Missouri and Brandon Garrett of Laquey, Missouri; three grandchildren: Khelsie, Brittany and Rebecca; seven siblings: Juanita (John) Martin of Springfield, Missouri, Christopher Davis of New London, Iowa, Michael (Helen) Davis of Aurora, Missouri, Janeth (Monte) Johnson of Monett, Missouri, Virginia (Joe) Hauck of Rolla, Missouri, Debra (Mike) Ortwien of Monnett, Missouri and Ronnie Davis of Texas and sister-in-law: Ruby Davis of Bonaparte, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lucille in December of 2009; sister Joyce and brother Tom. His body has been cremated and memorial services will be held at a later date.
