Iowa City- Dorothy R. Davis was born March 22, 1926, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Roderick William and Henrietta Anna Meyer Reader. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and worked for the VA Hospital for a number of years. On April 24, 1943, she married Marvin Dale Clark. They later divorced. In February 1976, she married Earl Davis. She grew up in Williamsburg and later moved to Iowa City, after she was married. Dorothy was a member of the Welsh Church, rural Iowa City and St. Paul United Methodist Church, Williamsburg. She was a life long member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing in her younger years, dining out with friends, her church work and her flowers. She adored her pets Tiger and Mimi and doted on her grandson Sean and his children. Dorothy died on Friday, March 18, 2011, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her daughter Susan Welsh; a grandson Sean (Shelly) Welsh; 2 great grandsons: Eli and Caleb Welsh, all of Williamsburg; and a brother Thomas Reader of Streamwood, IL She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl and 4 brothers: Merle, George, David and Charles.
