Dorothy Louise DeGood, 96, of Middle Amana, passed away, Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Colonial Manor of Amana. Funeral services will be at noon, Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Middle Amana Church, with Elder Kristie Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until noon, on Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Middle Amana Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church Society. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Norman) Bennett, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Marian Warren, of Livingston, Montana; four grandchildren Michelle (Matthew) McGuire, of Franklin, Tennessee, Allan Bennett, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, David (Bridget) Moore, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Shannon (Jeremy) Hindahl, of Collinsville, Illinois; three great grandchildren Benjamin McGuire, Linnea McGuire and Asher Hindahl. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 2001, her parents and a brother John Reihman.
Dorothy Reihman was born on May 12, 1922, in Middle Amana, the daughter of Emil and Mary Oehl Reihman. She was graduated from the Amana High School with the class of 1939. Dorothy married Ralph J. DeGood on December 14, 1941, in Lancaster, Missouri. She worked for the Amana Society main office, the Woolen Mill, and the Post Office. She also worked alongside her husband in his plumbing business. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, gardening and keeping a clean home. She considered her most important job being a homemaker.
