Dorothy M. Johnson, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, April 08, 2008, at the Henry County Health Center. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steven Zittergruen officiating. Burial will be in the Swedesburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church or to Mrs. Johnson's grandson's education. The daughter of William and Edna Nelson Quick, Dorothy Marjorie was born on July 4, 1916, in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Dorothy attended grade school at Harmony Country School west of Four Corners. She was a 1934 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. On April 14, 1941, she married Donald K. Johnson in Swedesburg, IA. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2000. After her marriage, Dorothy helped her husband farm in the Mt. Union area until they purchased a farm in Crawfordsville. The couple lived on that farm until retiring in 1981 and moving to Mt. Pleasant. Along with helping her husband on the family farm, Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker. She liked to cook and took pleasure in cooking for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and wintering in Arizona with her husband. Mrs. Johnson liked working with flowers and took special interest in growing African violets. Mrs. Johnson is survived by one son, Dwayne D. Johnson and his wife Kaye of Mt. Pleasant, IA, along with one grandson, Tony Johnson, and a great-grandson, Owen Johnson, both of North Liberty, IA. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Marge Quick of Burlington, IA. Along with her husband, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a son, Morris Johnson; one brother, Gene Quick; and two sisters, Helen Gustafston and Darlene Blitz.
