Dorothy Jane Chipman was born June 11, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Roy Richard and Anna (Kofron) Kabela. She was a graduate of City High School in Iowa City. She married Gary Lee Chipman on August 17, 1964, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with four children: Randy, Stacey, Danny and Leanne. Dorothy was a homemaker and later worked for Jack & Macs/76. Recently before her illness she was employed with Caring Hands of Iowa City. She died on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 67 years. She is survived by her children: Randy Chipman of Iowa City, Stacey (Jodi) Chipman of Oskaloosa, Leanne Chipman-Fry and Danny Chipman all of Williamsburg; 8 grandchildren: Anna, Clinton, Kenya, Jacob, Ashlea, Shane, Kurtice and Keanna; a great granddaughter Addysen; a sister Phyllis Rundell of The Dalles, Oregon; and a brother Roy Albert Kabela of Iowa City. She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother Charlie Kabela and former spouse Gary Lee Chipman in 2001. Visitation will be held 2:00 - 6:00 PM on Sunday March 25, 2012, at the Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Williamsburg, where there will be a Prayer Service of Remembrance at 6:00 PM. A private family graveside will be held Monday, March 26, 2012. In lieu of flowers a general memorial fund has been established.
