Dorothy "Dottie" Eloise Hansen, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, March 04, 2010, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center. Mrs. Hansen's body has been cremated. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2257 Highway 1 in Fairfield. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Lothar Lengtat officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Oakland Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses. On-line condolences may be sent to www.olsonpowell.com. Born May 20, 1931 in Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York, Dottie was the daughter of Walter and Marcie (Beamer) Congdon. She grew up in the Quad Cities, and she graduated from Moline High School. She attended Monmouth College. On August 21, 1954, she married Wayne Hansen in Moline IL. They lived in Rock Island, IL and Iowa City, IA and in 1966, they moved to the Henry County area. Dottie worked as a secretary for the McClellan Company in Davenport, IA. In 1970, Dottie and her husband moved to Mt. Pleasant where she worked as a secretary for Hansen Instruments. Always a homemaker, Dottie enjoyed spending time with her family. Dottie was one of Jehovah's Witnesses where she enjoyed Bible study, and was a teacher of the Bible. She also enjoyed traveling and attending Christian conventions. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Marcie of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Joe Hansen; and a brother, Walter Congdon, Jr.
