Williamsburg- Dorothy Emma Baack was born May 8, 1922 near South Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Henry H. and Rose R. (Ristedt) Heitshusen. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended Immanuel Parochial School. Dorothy was united in marriage to Orville John William Baack on July 2, 1943 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Dorothy was a homemaker, helped on the farm and worked 20 years at Seven Villages. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her husband Orville of Williamsburg; two sons: James (Marcia) Baack of Williamsburg and Donald (Christina) Baack of Arlington, TX; 6 granddaughters: Lynn (John) Gahring, Amy (Doug) Harrison, Rose (Paul) Cutting, Emmie Baack, Brandi (Billy) Roe and Amber Baack; 9 great grandchildren: Logan, Grayson & Abbie Gahring, Tucker, Garrett and Samantha Harrison, Asa & Tilla Cutting and Bailey Roe; a brother Clifford Heitshusen; a sister Myrle Stanerson both of Williamsburg; and a sister-in-law Joanne Baack. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Melva Heitshusen and Bernice Heitshusen; a sister-in-law Luanna Heitshusen and a brother-in-law Vic Stanerson. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg. Rev. Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
