Dorothy Dutton

Dorothy L. Dutton, 78, of Rockville, MD, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at her daughter's home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends during that time. A graveside and committal service will be held following the visitation at the Forest Home Cemetery. Born July 23, 1928, near Mt. Union, IA, Dorothy Louise was the daughter of Richard Howard and Wilma Weinrich Dutton. She was a 1946 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Dorothy enrolled in the Burlington Beauty College and graduated from there in 1947. On July 13, 1948, she married Holland Cline Cornick. He preceded her in death. She later married Harold Russell Heckenburg on September 5, 1992. Mr. Heckenburg also preceded her in death. Dorothy raised her three children on a farm east of Mt. Pleasant. She was employed in the security department of the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant from 1967-1974. She graduated from Massage Therapy School in Mesa, AZ in 1975. Dorothy was always busy caring for her family and friends. She was adventurous and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, big band music, dancing, camping, campfire activities and sharing her love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Dorothy was active in the Social Afternoon Club, the Friendly Neighbor's Club, Women's Conservation League and was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was a member and past president of the Henry County Republican Women and was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Cornick (Brian) Hansen of Rockville, MD, and Anita Cornick (Mark) Egbert of Orem, UT; one son, Linn Albert (Reyna) Cornick of San Diego, CA; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Shirley Trueblood Dutton of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and a niece, Lisa Dutton Thomas of Mitchellville, IA.
