KALONA - Dorothy Conklin was born August 27, 1915 in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Catherine (Dumont) Vogel. She graduated from Sigourney High School and attended William Penn College. She taught country school for a number of years in Keokuk County. Dorothy was married August 1, 1943 at Sacred Heart church in Memphis, Tennessee. Dorothy died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at her home in Kalona at the age of 96 years. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Doris Greiner of Kalona, two grandsons; Andy (Alison) Greiner of Kalona and Chris Greiner of Des Moines; two great grandchildren Josie and Jack Greiner of Kalona. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth Vogel, sister Erma Grimes, and son-in-law, David Greiner. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2011at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Richmond. Rev. Marty Goetz will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and for masses.
