Williamsburg-Doris Joan Hall was born July 9, 1929 in Preston, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Duhme) Oldis. She graduated in 1946 from City High in Iowa City and attended the University of Iowa College of Business. Doris was united in marriage to Murray Edward Hall, Jr. On April 5, 1953 in Iowa City. The couple lived in North English until 1960 when they moved to Williamsburg. Doris enjoyed volunteering to help others either by helping they around the home, to driving friends to appointments, she also sold daffodils for the American Cancer Society for many years. She also enjoyed knitting, embroidery but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her granddaughters, great granddaughter and family. She was a member of the Iburg Poulson VFW Post # 8797 Auxiliary and the Eastern Star in Sigourney Doris passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 87 years.
She is survived by her son: Edward M. Hall (Brenda Sams) of North English; a daughter: Carol Tietz (Tim) of Hiawatha; two granddaughters: Diedre Howe (Thomas) of Eldora and Laura Tietz of Marion; a great granddaughter: Brooklyn Howe and two brothers: Edward Oldis of Hinsdale, IL and Robert Oldis (Mary Pat) of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Philip Oldis.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 1:00 pm Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Visitation will be from noon until service time. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to Bobby Oldis Fields % Iowa City Boys Baseball.
