Williamsburg- Doris Evetta Von Ahsen, was born September 4, 1922 in Troy Township, Iowa County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Roy & Emily Marie (Faas) Collingwood. She was confirmed June 6, 1936 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Millersburg and was a 1941 graduate of Williamsburg High School. On September 4, 1941 Doris was united in marriage to Wilferd Henry Von Ahsen at her mother's home in Williamsburg. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Oxford & Williamsburg communities, until moving into Williamsburg in 1971. Doris was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxilliary Post #8797. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, traveling with their camper and teaching her grandchildren.
Doris died on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in Williamsburg, at the age of 92 years.
Doris is survived by her children: Barbara Gahring of Houston, TX, Duane Von Ahsen of Williamsburg and Bonnie (Russell) Furler of Conroy; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a sister: Marva Wilson of Des Moines; and two brothers: Milford Collingwood of Williamsburg and Hawley Collingwood of Belle Plaine. She was preceded by her parents; husband; a son David; a son-in-law Donald Gahring; two brothers: Sylvan Collingwood & Gerald Collingwood; and three sisters: Dorothy Rusbult, Gladys Kempfert and Velma Hofmaster.
Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. Pastor Tom Ogilvie will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Lutheran Interparish School or donor's choice.
