Doris Ann Gorsh

Doris A Gorsh, was born February 28, 1934, in Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Harry V. & Alice C. (Tinkle) Holderness. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1952. On May 3, 1953, Doris was united in marriage to Carroll Gorsh at Zion Church, near Millersburg. They later divorced. She worked as a cook at Hillside Estates for 12 years retiring in 2002. Doris was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church, UMW, Red Hats, Millersburg Legion Auxillary, Iowa County Geneology and Iowa County Heritage Agency on Aging. She enjoyed sitting in her glider, watching the birds, flowers, traveling, her dog, visiting friends and spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren. Doris went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Colonial Manor in Amana at the age of 80 years.

She is survived by her eight children: Lynn (Linda) Gorsh of Williamsburg, Kathy (Jeff) Townsend of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Cindy) Gorsh of Williamsburg, Sheri (Jerry) Husband, David (Darla) Gorsh, Carolyn (Charles) Gensley all of Millersburg, Brenda (Dwight) Overton of Williamsburg and Angie (Tom) Dolezal of Millersburg; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister Shirley(Dennis) Gent of Webster; and three sisters-in-law Eunice Holderness, Ruth Ann Gorsh and Laurena Gorsh all of North English. She was preceded by her parents; a sister Helen Opfer; a brother Walter "Mac" Holderness and a brother Robert Holderness in infancy.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at the Millersburg United Methodist Church, Millersburg. Rev. Michelle Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 PM-7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Powell Funeral Home, North English. Memorials may be given to the Millersburg United Methodist Church, the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center or Essence of Life Hospice.
