SIGOURNEY-Donna Winfrey, age 66, of Sigourney, died Thursday, November 22, 2012, at her home. Donna was born December 2, 1945, in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of Rev. Arthur and Helen (Skidmore) Wessel and graduated from High School in Seattle, Washington. On January 2, 1966, she married Jack M. Winfrey in Seattle, Washington. The couple lived in Seattle for eight years, San Diego for 16 years, San Jose, California for three years and Westminster, Maryland for 16 years before moving to Sigourney 14 years ago. Donna retired in 1998 as Manager of a Black & Decker outlet store. She was an active member of the Sigourney Christian Church and enjoyed quilting, gardening and caring for others. Survivors include her husband: Jack of Sigourney; three children: Ramah Lee Winfrey Ross and husband Larry Ross of Delta, Gary W. Winfrey and wife Melissa of Hanover, Pennsylvania and Shari Winfrey Drew and husband Tim of Braymer, Missouri; four grandchildren: Jenny, Hunter, Chris and Courtney; three great grandchildren: Michael, Maia and Rylee; three sisters: Jeannie Wessel Farabee and husband Dwayne of Ashboro, North Carolina, Ginger Wessel Dawkins and husband Rev. Junior of Randleman, North Carolina and Connie Wessel Stout and husband Nathan of Ramseur, North Carolina; brother: James Danby of Melkshem, England and step-mother: Florena Wessel of Gardendale, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Lyn Rushton and in-laws: Henry and Dorothy Winfrey. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Sigourney Christian Church, with Pastors Jim Bringman and Kyle Ryun officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Sigourney Christian Church. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Donna and her family.
