Donna Mae Baustian passed away on July 26th, 2024 at the age of 71. Born on July 22nd, 1953 to Jack and Anna Mae Wakeley, she grew up with a whole slew of siblings, 6 in fact. She attended BGM Schools where she met and then married her high school sweetheart, Don Coburn. From this joining four upstanding and outstanding children were born: Chad, Carla, Joshua and Jessica. After 23 years, their marriage ended. Love was found again, and in 2009 Donna married Lynn Baustian.
Besides being a stay at home mother, Donna worked at Nesselroad Chevrolet in Brooklyn before having children and again once her oldest children reached junior high. She then moved to working as secretary for Dr. Roller in his Chiropractic Office. With thoughts of making days special for families on weddings and holidays, along with helping families in times of sorrow, Donna’s next career change found her owning and operating Blooming Endeavors (a flower shop) in Montezuma with her daughter Carla. Upon selling the shop in Montezuma after several years in business, she opened Kraze (yet another flower shop) in Brooklyn where she worked until her retirement.
Donna enjoyed her beyond career years by spending time with her children and grandchildren (always doing her best to force some sort of sweet treat and Diet Pepsi upon them), taking nightly rides around Holiday Lake with Lynn in the golf cart visiting people, the occasional full moon, relaxing in her four season room, playing pranks on people and was known to enjoy a libation or three on numerous occasions where vodka always seemed to be involved. Always one to share her thoughts, you can bet that Donna enjoyed speaking her mind. She always said she wanted to live her life her way, and using her strong will and stubbornness, she certainly did.
Donna was preceded in death by her father Jack, mother Anna Mae and her only brother Charlie Wakeley (Judy). She is survived by her five sisters: Linda Grim (Butch), Janet Kirby (Richard), Carol Graff, Susie Altemeier (Stan), and Julie Scott (Rick), also her husband, Lynn Baustian, her four children, Chad Coburn (Crystal), Carla Coburn (Curt Funk), Joshua Coburn (Cynn) and Jessica Lacaeyse (Joel), a step daughter Megan Walford-Baustian (Nivek Kautzer), ten grandchildren and one step grandchild.
A small, immediate family only service will take place at a later date. Flowers and plants are not necessary. Cards, a hand shake, hug or conversation can be directed to Mr. Lynn Baustian at 1766 328th Ave, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
