Donetta K. Kriegel

Donetta K. Kriegel, age 61, of Hartwick, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, with Rev. Joel Nielsen officiating. Burial will be at the Hartwick Cemetery, Hartwick. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donetta is survived by her husband Jeff, children Sara (Bryan) Menicucci, Terri (Michael) Sieler, Tami (Joel) Linn, Josh (Stacy) Kriegel, a bonus daughter Toni Collins; ten grandchildren Jordyn, Kollin, Bailey, Rayce, Rayn, Tyler, Kylie Jo, Kylie, Cambrie and Brooks; brother David (Suzette) Stratton, and sister LaDawn Stratton.

She was preceded in death by her father Leo Stratton, grandparents Maxine and Kenneth Stratton and Charles and Helen Hilligas, and her aunt and uncle Richard and Pat Hilligas.

Donetta Kaye Stratton was born August 26, 1961, in Grinnell. She graduated from HLV High School with the class of 1979. Donetta was united in marriage to Jeff Kriegel on November 15, 1980, in Ladora, Iowa. Donetta was a very hard worker, working as a quality supervisor for Priority Plastics in Grinnell for 19 years. Donetta enjoyed fishing, rock climbing, bird watching and gardening. She loved traveling to Colorado for different camping adventures. Donetta especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, she really enjoyed listening to everyone’s “best part of their day”. She was the caretaker of the family, she was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
