Donald Wellington Davisson was born November 13, 1916 northwest of Wellman, Iowa the son of Ross and Jennie (Walton) Davisson. He attended Fairview country school and graduated from Kinross High School in 1935. On October 5, 1941 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Potsander at the Kalona United Methodist Church. They lived in the Wellman, Riverside and Kalona communities. Don worked for Maple Crest for two years and Proctor and Gamble for 26 years before retiring in 1982. He was a 50 year member of the Farmers Lodge in Kinross. He served on the Riverside and Proctor and Gamble fire departments. Don passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 93 years. Don is survived by his wife Marjorie of Kalona; two sons - Vance Davisson and Vaughn Davisson and wife Cheryll of Riverside; three grandchildren - Brooke, Erica, James; three great grandchildren James, Rebecca and Tyler; and a brother Aubrey Davisson and wife Kay of West Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Verda Groff; and two brothers - Harley and Ross Jr. Don will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Rev. David L. Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice.
