Donald Ray Coffman was born January 25, 1930 at home in South English, Iowa, the son of Evert G. & Beulah C. (Shelly) Coffman. He graduated from Kinross High School in 1947. On September 9, 1951 Don was united in marriage to Marilyn Joyce McConaha in Ottumwa, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with three children. On December 7, 1951 he was inducted into the US Army. Don was a farmer, owned and operated Coffman Feed & Grain and worked for ACCO Unlimited Corp. after moving to Urbandale in 1989. Marilyn preceded Don on February 7, 1994. He later relocated to Kansas and married Marilee (Grove) Graham in 1994. Don died on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at his home in Overland Park, Kansas at the age of 88 years.
He is survived by his wife Marilee Coffman of Overland Park, KS; two daughters Teresa Mether of Antioch, TN and Debra Coffman of Johnston, IA; a son Daniel Coffman of Philmont, NY; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a step daughter Jennifer McAuley of Overland Park, KS; two step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; a twin sister Doris Evans of Williamsburg; a brother David Coffman of Davenport, IA; and a sister-in-law Willie Coffman- Greene of South English, IA. He was preceded by his parents; his first wife Marilyn; a brother Leland Coffman and a sister Marie E Coffman.
Visitation will be from 9-11 am on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Powell Funeral Home in North English. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 am on Saturday at the English River Church of the Brethren Cemetery near South English. There will be a social fellowship and refreshments following the service at the English River Church of the Brethren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the English River Church of the Brethren Cemetery Fund. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
