He was united in marriage to Lucille Little in Thornburg, IA on February 18, 1947. Don farmed in the Keswick area, which is where they established a home and raised their family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. He especially enjoyed watching the grandchildren's activities as they grew up over the years. He was actively involved in raising cattle and mini ponies on the farm. He rarely missed a good horse pulling event. Don loved being outdoors, watching the wildlife, fishing, and hunting mushrooms in the spring. Don was a member of the United Methodist Church and had served on several church boards. He died on Friday, March 21, 2008, following a brief illness at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. He lived 84 years, 1 month and 16 days.
