KEOTA - Donald Gaile Fagen was born January 16, 1925 in Keota, Iowa the son of Walter and Mabel (Rowe) Fagen. He graduated from Keota High School in 1942. He served in the United States Air Force during WW II. On February 28, 1948 he was united in marriage to Darlyne Evans. Don has lived in the Keota community all of his life where he owned and operated Fagen Elevator. He was a member of the United Church of Faith, KAABA Shrine, and Washington Lodge #26. He served on the Keota fire department and Keota city council for 12 years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, softball, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Don died on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at his home in Keota at the age of 86 years. Don is survived by four sons - Larry Fagen (Vicki); James Fagen; David Fagen (Mary) all of Keota; Darin Fagen (Kris) of Urbandale; a daughter - Diana Myers (David) of Fort Mill, South Carolina; twelve grandchildren - Josh Myers; Jamie Harris; Kirk, Chelsea, Ryan, Shelby, Jeff, Rebekah, Cameron, Isabel, Luke and Cole Fagen; a great grandson - Landin; and a special friend Sally Snow of Keota. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Darlyne in January 2005; an infant daughter Winifred Ann; four brothers - Everett, Wallace, Burle, and Walter Jr; and a sister - Margaret Poole. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the United Church of Faith in Keota. Rev. Dennis Hopes will officiate. Burial will be in the Keota Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota where the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the United Church of Faith and Keokuk County Hospice.
