Williamsburg-Donald Andrew Faas was born April 15, 1921 near Millersburg, Iowa, the son of Clare Melvin and Vena Margaret (Pope) Faas. He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1938. Donald was united in marriage to Florence Sengelaub on February 27, 1944 in California. He has lived in California, New York and Florida. He was a construction superintendent in New York and Florida. Donald served in WWII from 1943 to 1945 the US Navy SeaBees he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church near North English. He returned to Williamsburg to live at Highland Ridge Presbyterian Home last year. Donald died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg after a brief illness at the age of 85 years. He is survived by two sisters: Elaine (Marion) Cram of North English and Shirley (August) Steffen of Williamsburg; 17 nieces and nephews and a sister in law Opal Faas of Cedar Rapids. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother William and a nephew Paul Faas. Celebration of Life Service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Pastor Edwin Jordan will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until service time. Burial will be at the Lake Worth Memorial Gardens in Lake Worth, Florida later in the week.
