Donald Eugene Bush was born October 28, 1933 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Cyrus and Welcome (Christner) Bush. He attended Straw College rural school and Kalona High School. On April 4, 1953 he was united in marriage to Donna Murphy at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman. They made there home in Ainsworth and they moved to the Wellman community in 1962. Don was a farmer and he worked at the Eash Cabinet Shop in Wellman. He was a former member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, looking for mushrooms, wood working and square dancing. Don died on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 77 years. Don is survived by his wife Donna of Wellman; four daughters - Karen Christner (Bob) of Kalona; Janice Groff (Dennis) of Millersburg; Brenda Hershberger (Merlin) of Wellman; Carol Mullen (Ron) of Wellman; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister Leah Dell Beckley of Kalona; and two brothers - Larry Bush of Burlington; and Dennis Bush of Riverside. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Loren Bush. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Kalona United Methodist Church in Kalona. Rev Lynn Patrick will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman where the family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Manor.
