Donald E Woodward

North English- Donald Eugene Woodward was born July 6, 1942, near Parnell, Iowa, the son of Lyle Richard & Leora Hope (Claypool) Woodward. He grew up in Parnell, Marengo, St Petersburg, FL and then back to Parnell where he graduated from Parnell High School in 1960. On July 28, 1963, Donald was united in marriage to Betty Jane Marine at Champion Hill Methodist Church, near North English. They have lived in the North English area since 1978. He worked at Amana for 13 years, Iowa Parcel Service, Operated Don's Farm Service in North English and later worked at the University of Iowa for 15 years. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, taking care of his dogs and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don died on Monday, February 9, 2015 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 72 years.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jane of North English; two daughters: Mary Beth (Dave) Knipfer of North English and Jane Ann (David) Croft of Washington; four grandchildren: Betsy (Mitch) Frazier of Urbandale, Linda (Andy) Mather of Sigourney, Kile (Laci) Knipfer and Jaime (Gene) Moothart all of North English; five great grandchildren: Kaylee, Isaac & Bryker Frazier and Owen & Allison Mather; a sister Joan Heyesen of Marengo; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and an infant brother Herman Woodward.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Powell Funeral Home, North English. Rev. Michelle Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in the Yankee Point Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 AM until service time. Memorials may be given to the North English QRS.
