HARPER-Donald “Dick” Norenberg, age 93, of rural Harper, died Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Brown Deer Place in Coralville.
Dick was born August 23, 1930, in Keota, to Isaac and Grace (Biewen) Norenberg and graduated from Keota High School. On September 2, 1950, he married Yvonne Myers at the Methodist Church in Keota. Dick then served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. A lifetime resident of the Keota community, Dick worked as a Line Foreman for Iowa Southern Electric Company, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion, Keota Fire Department, Lion’s Club, Jaycees and Lagos Acres country club. He also served on the Keota Community School Board and Keota City Council. Dick enjoyed his family more than anything else, hunting, fishing, golfing, his cabin, music and socializing at County Line Mart.
Survivors include three daughters: Vickie Lynn Flynn of Keota, Connie Sue (Keith) Tuttle of Grimes and Terri Jo (Dennis) Hawkins of Iowa City; eight grandchildren: Heather (Blake) Sott, Heidi (Eric) Bridgewater, Scott (Holly) Flynn, Matt (Jenny Hobbs) Flynn, Brett (Brynn Weimer) Flynn, Misti (Bridget) Camp, Brandi (Michael) Husband and Krista (Doug) Johnson; 14 great grandchildren and one on the way; three brothers: Lowell Norenberg of Branson, Missouri, Jay (Pat) Norenberg of Pensacola, Florida and George (Christy) Norenberg of Iowa City and one sister: Veronica “Peachy” (Roger) Shifflett of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Yvonne in 2003; grandson: Ryan Jay Tuttle; three brothers: Stan Norenberg, Gary Norenberg and Lou Norenberg in infancy and three sisters: Lois Bennett, Beverly Earll and Pauline Cave.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the United Church of Faith in Keota, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery, where there will be military rites by Keota V.F.W. Post #4716. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
