Donald Dale Kolosiek was born July 2, 1930 in rural Kalona, Iowa the daughter of Melack and Sylvia (Kupka) Kolosiek. He graduated form Kalona High School in 1949. On April 8, 1961 he was united in marriage to Carol Hills at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. Donald has lived and farmed in the Kalona community all of his life. He enjoyed studying Czech heritage, listening to music, going to auctions, and antique farm equipment. Donald passed away on Friday, March 20, 2009 at his home in rural Kalona at the age of 78 years. Donald is survived by his wife Carol of Kalona; a son Dean Kolosiek of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter Kay Eden of Kalona; a grandson Hunter Eden of Kalona; and a brother Marvin Kolosiek of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kalona. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Funeral Home. A general memorial fund has been established.
