Don W. Bair, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, formerly of Keswick, IA, died of a heart attack, Saturday, May 26, 2007, at his son's home in Fontana, WI. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, 709 Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. that evening. A memorial funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Adam, celebrant. Inurnment with military rites will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney,IA, at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church or to the James Murphy American Legion Post #319. Born March 9, 1928, in South English, IA, Don was the son of Harley S. and Blanche Pearl Linebarger Bair. He graduated from Keswick High School in 1945. Don served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Corporal Bair was discharged from military service on October 16, 1952. On May 5, 1951, he married Jody Osweiler at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Keswick. Don farmed the family farm west of Keswick for many years, retiring in 1984. He drove a school bus for the Tri-County, Pella, Mt. Pleasant School Districts for 52 years. Don also drove charter coaches for 20 years of enjoyable travel, with his wife Jody being the tour coordinator. Don was an energetic worker with natural mechanical skills. He enjoyed bicycling, traveling, card clubs, singing with the Rhythm Rockers and participating in other music sessions. Don treasured his family and friends. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the James Murphy American Legion Post # 319. Survivors include his wife, Jody of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one son, James Bair and his wife Peg of Fontana, WI; one daughter, Lisa and her husband Scott Augsburger of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Kristina and Michael Bair, and Staci and Ashli Augsburger. Don was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy Sue; a brother Rex Bair; and by an infant sister.
