Domenica "Minnie" Borg, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, IA and formerly of Fairfield, IA, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2006, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the White Oaks Chapel in San Carlos, CA. A vigil service will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening as well. Funeral mass for Mrs. Borg will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 20, 2006, at St. Charles Catholic Church in San Carlos, CA. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, CA. Memorials have been established to UNICEF and the Dar Tal Providenca Orphanage in Malta. The Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel has been in charge of local arrangements. Born in Mosta, Malta, Minnie was born on June 30, 1916, to Carmelo and Angela Fenech Muscat. She married Carmelo "Charles" Borg on May 4,1939, in Malta. Minnie entered the United States in 1939, settling as a resident of San Francisco and later of Gilroy and San Carlos, California. She spent the later part of her life in Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Minnie was known for her culinary expertise and enjoyed working as a private chef for estate homes in Malta and California. She also cooked for Many Oaks Retirement Home and Sequoia Hospital. She was a member of a catering business with her friends. Minnie loved her family, her church, music, and parties. She loved to sing, make people laugh, and entertain family and friends. While living in California, Minnie was a parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, while living in Iowa. Mrs. Borg is survived by two sons, Charles Borg of San Francisco, CA, and Richard Borg and his wife Rosalie of Fairfield, IA; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Paul Muscat of Malta, Anthony Muscat of Redwood City, CA, and Rene' Muscat of Australia and two sisters, Francesca Farruga of Malta and Doris Borg of Sonoma, CA. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Borg was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law and seven siblings.
