KEOTA-Dixie Luers, age 62, of Keota, died Monday, August 30, 2021, at her home.
Dixie was born April 14, 1959, in Sigourney, to Don and Lois (Tarr) Van Toorn. She attended English Valleys schools and graduated from Keota High School in 1977. On July 22, 1978, she married Lonnie Luers at the Methodist Church in Keota. Dixie was a stay at home mom while her children grew up, then worked at the Wilson Memorial Library and Optimae Life Services, among other jobs. She was a member of the Good Neighbor Fellowship and enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, volunteering, gardening and canning.
Survivors include her husband: Lonnie of Keota; three children: Justin (Breena) Luers of Keota, Skyler (fiancé Jenny) Luers of Keota and Danielle (Nicholas) Schultz of Oxford; nine grandchildren: Korrah, Grace, Asher, Emelia, Gavin, Isaiah, Jayde, Levi and Tessa; sister: Linda (John) Colligan of New Sharon; nieces: Breanne and Jordan Luers; mother-in-law: Joan Luers of Peoria, Arizona and sister-in-law: Leah Woodcock of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter: Gloria; father-in-law: Duane Luers and sister-in-law: Wendy Hammes.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Good Neighbor Fellowship in Keota, with Pastor Doug Tinnes officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Good Neighbor Fellowship.
