Diana L. Weigert, 68, of rural New London, IA, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Hospice House in West Burlington, IA.Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Visitation will continue at the Calvary Baptist Church, located next door to the Memorial Chapel, beginning at 4:00 p.m., where the family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Hess officiating. Interment will be in the Lowell Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Henry County 4-H or the Faith Fellowship Baptist Church of Kansas City. On line condolences may be directed to the www.olsonpowell.com. The daughter of Everett and Doris Swailes Taylor, Diana Lynn was born on May 31, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She was a 1965 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community High School. Following graduation, Diana obtained a business degree from Southeastern Community and furthered her education with art classes at Orange Coast College in California. On October 9, 1965, she married David Paul Weigert at Prairie Gem Church. David and Diana were the last couple to be married in the church before it was moved to its current location on the Old Threshers Grounds. As a young adult Diana was a crossing guard in Fountain Valley, CA. For 13 years she was employed by Motorola in Mt. Pleasant where she worked in several departments. Following retirement she taught art and gym at Mt. Pleasant Christian School. For over 20 years Diana owned and operated Country Lane Fiber Arts located on the family farm. She had a special love for animals and raised a variety of them on the farm. Diana was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. For 35 years, she served as a 4-H leader and was honored for her service by being inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame at the Iowa State Fair. Diana loved to paint, and she entered her work in the Federal Duck Stamp competition. She led Bible study at the New London Care Center and was an auxiliary member of Gideon International. Diana was a volunteer for HCI Care Services and helped to prepare a meal at The Fellowship Cup each month. Most recently Diana used her artistic talents to create cards to encourage individuals.Along with her loving husband, David, of New London, IA, Diana is survived by her parents, Everett and Doris Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a son, Troy (Lorie) Weigert of Hiawatha, IA; a daughter, Charie (Lance) McMahon of Centerville, IA; a brother, Rich (Annette) Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and a sister, Norma Taylor of Fairfield, IA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jeremy McMahon, Jessica Hollenbeck, Levi McMahon, Jacob Weigert, and Taylor Weigert, along with five great-grandchildren, Caley Lautz, Marly McMahon, Urijah McMahon, Jayden Buckaloo, and Alexis McMahon.Diana was preceded in death by her grandparents; a daughter, Hope Weigert; a brother, Mike Taylor; and a great-granddaughter, Emma McMahon.
