Dewyane Hall, 76, of Salem, IA, died unexpectedly Friday, January 9, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, January 12, 2015, at the Salem Congregational Church, in Salem, IA, with Pastors Aaron Helterbran and Harold Dorsey officiating. Prior to the service the family will greet friends, at the church, for one hour, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Salem East Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Salem Congregational Church and the Salem Fire and Rescue Association. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is assisting the family. Born in Milton, IA, on May 4, 1938, Lowell Dewyane was the son of Lowell Lee and Opal Lorraine Bullock Hall. He was a 1956 graduate of Milton High School. At the time of his marriage to Mary Lou Brill, on November 22, 1958, in Memphis, MO, Dewyane moved to Salem, IA. His wife of 56 years, Mary Lou, survives. Following high school Dewyane worked at the Zenith Television factory in Chicago. He then worked in Burlington, IA for J.I. Case as a welder before finishing his career as a mechanic and ironworker for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, IA. Dewyane coached little league baseball for many years. He attended Salem Congregational Church. A man who appreciated the outdoors, Dewyane liked to camp, fish, and target shoot, along with being an avid hunter who especially enjoyed prairie dog hunting in South Dakota. He was fond of traveling to Arizona and California, attending flea markets, and listening to old time country and bluegrass music. When indoors he could be found following the Cubs and watching the World Wrestling Federation. Along with his wife, Dewyane is survived by a son, Daniel Hall of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a brother, Doug (Ramona) Hall of Hendersonville, TN; and two sisters, Mary Lee (Frank) Cole of San Antonio, TX, and Charlotte (James) Hougland of Bloomfield, IA. He is also survived by a grandson, Jason Hall of Trenton, IA; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Justin) Tyler of Hannibal, MO; and two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Nickolas Tyler of Hannibal, MO. Dewyane was preceded in death by his parents.
