SIGOURNEY-Dennis Peiffer, age 72, of Sigourney, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at his home, from complications of ALS. Dennis was born October 30, 1933, in Sigourney, to August and Anna (Striegel) Peiffer and received his education at Ss. Peter and Paul School in Clear Creek Township. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1957. On September 26, 1964, he married Kay Dumont at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. Dennis was a Supervisor at Amana Refrigeration for 40 years, retiring in 1995. Dennis then worked for R & R Excavating for five years. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, Sigourney Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. Dennis enjoyed four-wheeling, traveling, mushrooming and having coffee with the guys. Survivors include his wife: Kay Peiffer of Sigourney; three children: Deb Mac Donald and husband Tim of Toddville, Greg Peiffer of Clive and Kathy Peiffer of Clive; two grandchildren: Sam and Kayla Mac Donald of Toddville; six sisters: Agnes Jaeger of Quincy, Illinois, Theresa Peiffer of Des Moines, Lyola Kaska of Fairfield, Phyllis Salm of Iowa City, Marge Bower of Sigourney and Marian Emmack of Des Moines and two brothers: Harold Peiffer of Des Moines and Clarence Peiffer of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Donald, Art and Cornelius and one sister: Lu Scribner. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2006, at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney with Revs. Philip Ryan and Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney, where there will be a wake service at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the ALS Foundation and Hospice of Keokuk County. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
