Dennis Lee Pollock, age 74 of Oquawka, Illinois, formerly of the Brooklyn area, died Saturday, February 3, 2024 at his home in Oquawka.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday, February 12, 2024, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, Iowa with Rev. Josh Gerard officiating. Visitation: 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. on Monday, February 12, 2024 prior to the service. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery with military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Brooklyn American Legion Post 294. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dennis was born April 24, 1949 in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Alfred Pollock and Hattie Milligan Pollock. He enlisted in the United States Navy and during that time he received his GED. Dennis served two tours in Vietnam. Upon his discharge he returned home and worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, and the candy factory in Centralia, Il. He had the “wonderful opportunity” to work with his son Jon as the boss, on the river barges for several years. He worked for the Army Corp of Engineers until his retirement in 2013. Dennis spent his free time ice fishing, hunting, and late model car racing. He cherished his time spent with the family and his dogs.

Dennis and Brenda Kay Keever were married October 31, 2018 in Oquawka, but they had been together for 16 years. She survives him. He has two sons from a previous marriage, Jon and wife Jen, and Andy and wife Jessie. He has three stepsons, Doug Jones, Jason Lox and Josh Lox. Dennis was a loving Grandpa to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Jim Milligan and wife Pam, and a sister Tammy Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sandy, and another sister Sherry Ragain; and a brother Michael Pollock.
