WELLMAN - Dennis James Brown was born April 16, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of William and Evelyn (Broherd) Brown. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1973. On October 19, 1974 he was united in marriage to Shirley Stumpf at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond. He has lived in the Wellman community all of his life. He was a truck driver for Wellman Produce. Dennis attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wellman where he served on the church council and attended the Grace Community Church in North Liberty. He was a member of the NRA, and the North American Hunting and Fishing Club. He loved being in the outdoors hunting and fishing. Dennis died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 near Fairfield at the age of 57 years. Dennis is survived by his wife Shirley of Wellman; three children - Karissa Brincks (Ryan) of Center Point; Stacey Brown (Jennifer) of Wellman; Shaylee Brown of Wellman; six grandchildren - Gavin and Jackson Brincks; Caden, Colby, Cain, and Cash Brown; his parents Bill and Evelyn Brown of Wellman; his mother-in-law Dorothy Stumpf of Kalona; and two sisters - Janice Long (Max) of Brighton; and Sharon Miller (Larry) of Wellman. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Rowena Mangold; and his father-in-law Richard Stumpf. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Pastor Brooks Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman where the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for a College fund for Shaylee and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
