Delores J. Dee Ford, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018, at her home.
Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Wednesday, March 14th, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 15th, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, with The Rev. Wayne Kamm officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Born September 20, 1934, in Fairfield, IA,Delores Jean, was the daughter of Fred I. and Eva W. (Phillips) Hootman. She graduated from Fairfield High School and attended one semester of college. On August 6, 1950, she married Floyd Wayne Ford in Fairfield, IA. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2014.
For many years Dee worked in local grocery stores and restaurants. She liked to garden, crochet, and embroider. Dee was a voracious reader and enjoyed cooking and baking. Most of all she loved to be with her children, grandchildren and cats.
Dee is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Danny) Welcher of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three sons, Steven (Rhonda) Ford, Larry (Patty) Ford, and Dale Ford all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a brother, James (Kathryn) Hootman of Harrisburg, SD; and three sisters, Dixie Myers of Fairfield, IA, Peggy Hoover of Edwards, MO, and Karen (Homer) Iseman of Lebanon, MO. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Rob (Jodi) Welcher, Jennifer Welcher, and Marcus Ford; three great-grandchildren, Cody Welcher, Gillian Anderson, and Abbigail Anderson; and family of the heart, Joel and Vicki Wooten and their children, Ashley Waid, Lindsey Wooten and Whitney Wooten.
Along with her loving husband and parents, Dee was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Hootman, Charles Hootman, and Robert Hootman.
