Delmar Beckler, 83, of the Noble community, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at his home. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Wayland, IA where the family will receive friends. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, May 6th, at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Pastor Curt Kuhns officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family to be determined at a later date. Born May 25, 1932 in Fagler, CO, Delmar Floyd was the son of Ira and Marian (Boshart) Beckler. The family moved to Lebanon, OR when Delmar was 5 years old. He attended Berlin Country School near Lebanon, OR. On September 21, 1952 he married Mildred Unternahrer at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. From 1953-1954, he fulfilled a 1W Service with the Mt. Pleasant Mental Health Institute. At the age of 16, Delmar began driving a truck. He was co-owner with his father of a sale barn in Lebanon, OR where he was a cattle buyer and auctioneer. He later was a saw mill foreman and log truck driver in Sweet Home, OR. In 1967, the family moved to Wayland, IA where he was a feed salesman for English River Pellets in Kalona, IA. He later was a foreman at Perfex Modine in Washington, IA. He retired as an independent over the road truck driver in 2007. After retiring, he assisted with transportation for the Amish community. Delmar and Mildred loved to travel and spend time with their family. He enjoyed collecting Oliver Tractors. He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church. Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Mt. Pleasant; 4 children, Ardith (Tom) Frees of Riverside, IA, Sharon (Steve) Blakley of Wayland, IA, Beverly Elmore of Albia, IA, and Dean (Crystal) Beckler of Crawfordsville, IA; a special son of the heart, Mark McKinney of Los Angeles, CA; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Naomi Roth of Albany, OR. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Duane Beckler; a son-in-law, Daniel Elmore; 2 brothers, Clifford and Truman Beckler; and 2 sisters, Opal Hamilton-Rice and Ardis Byers.
