Debbie L. Allender, 54, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA. Friends may sign the register book on Friday, July 27th, at the Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. There will be a private family service. Inurnment will be in Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established and may be directed to the family. The daughter of Darrell A. and Katherine K. Singsheim Wellington, Debbie was born on December 27, 1957, in Des Moines, IA. She was a member of the 1977 Mt. Pleasant High School class. On September 18, 1976, she married Garry Allender at Finley Chapel, in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Debbie was a homemaker, took great pride in her home, and had an eye for decorating, which was evident in her beautiful home. Above all Debbie was interested in the activities of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed planting flowers, tending the yard, and watching the birds around her home, especially the hummingbirds and orioles. Debbie's loyal companion was her dog, Hazel. Along with her husband, Garry, of 37 years, Debbie is survived by two sons, Phillip (Stephanie) Allender of Westville, IN and Seth Allender of Mt. Pleasant, IA; her mother Katherine Williams of Batavia, IA; three sisters, Peggy Wellington of Ottumwa, IA, Cathy Wellington of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Brenda Thompson of Centerville, IA; and two brothers, Tony Thompson of Eldon, IA, and Danny Thompson of Corydon, IA. She is also survived by five granddaughters, Adrianna, Kailei, and Gillian Allender, McKenzie Hyatt, and Raqual Swayder. Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Darrell Wellington; infant sister, Vickie Wellington; and four grandparents.
